Beyond the algorithm

Overview
Beyond the Algorithm was developed as a visual campaign to address growing concerns over the rise of AI and its cultural implications. The campaign targets emerging creatives, students, and technology experts—urging them to question the role of machine-made content in human expression. I led the visual direction for the event's materials.

The Challenge
The campaign needed to make a strong visual and conceptual impression while avoiding pushing an opinion on the viewers/users. The biggest challenge was communicating a complex ethical topic in a way that felt emotionally human while not posing a direct view on the topic — especially since the purpose of the event was to evoke a conversation not push an agenda.
The Solution
To cut through the noise, I built the campaign using deliberate black & white visuals that leverage an ironic tone. The campaign features a clear user journey from awareness to refelction—The poster brings awareness, the web provides information, and the booklet evokes reflection & promotes conversation after the event.
The Result
While Beyond the Algorithm was developed as a conceptual campaign, it demonstrates how design can be used as a tool for cultural critique and speculative activism. The project explores the intersection of ethics, creativity, and artificial intelligence, offering a blueprint for how future awareness campaigns can challenge dominant narratives around technology. It now serves as a portfolio piece showcasing my ability to merge visual storytelling with social commentary — provoking thought through bold, experimental design.
